From Rick Owens Spring/Summer 2016 “Cyclops,” this women’s flight jacket reinterprets the traditional MA-1 through Rick’s architectural lens. Constructed in a fluid viscose and cupro blend, the fabric carries a subtle satin sheen with a cool, silk-like hand, allowing the sculptural draped panels to fall with natural movement.
Unlike standard bombers, this piece is cut with asymmetric layered construction throughout the front and back, creating shifting volume depending on how it is worn. Classic military references remain—utility sleeve pocket, ribbed cuffs, structured collar—but are softened through fluid tailoring and material contrast.
A strong example of Rick’s ability to merge utilitarian forms with softness and tension.
